Eight Eyes

Today Taylor and Lauren got their glasses. They've been anxiously awaiting them. Taylor got a note from the school back in November that he failed the school eye test and I needed to take him into the eye doctor. I put it off for a while but then realized we have vision insurance for the whole family.

Lauren really wanted glasses so I took her in too, thinking they would tell me her eyes were fine and I could tell her to chill about it for a while. Lo and behold, she needed glasses, too. Her eyes are barely starting to go bad, but Taylor's were/are pretty bad. The Dr. said he has to wear his all the time, except for sports. He wasn't even phased by it.

As you can see, they both look pretty darn cute!!

p.s. Every time I look at Taylor with his spikey hair and glasses, I think he looks just like Lewis in "Meet The Robinsons." :)

Jr. Jazz

Taylor had his last Jr. Jazz game last Saturday and played awesome!! He loves basketball! His dad video recorded almost the whole game and they watched it a couple of times to review the plays :) Taylor made 8 baskets. The other team was lacking on the defense but Taylor was an awesome shot. He's very proud of himself and we are too :)

p.s. we're hoping for an NBA career someday so he can take care of his parents in their old age

Spring Cleaning 101

I found a good article in the Real Simple magazine on Spring Cleaning. I feel like it's time. It was probably time 2 or 3 springs ago. This article talks about keeping your house clean in only 19 minutes a day. I CAN do that, but WILL I? On the surface it's clean, but my baseboards are yucky, behind my toaster is dirty and gram would be cleaning out the inside of my microwave if she were here :) We've also had a MONTH of sickness in our house so when I was at Costco I bought a huge 4-pack of Clorox Wipes. I'm going to kill the germs in this house come hell or high water!!
p.s. along with spring cleaning seems to come organizing. There was also a good website listed on uncluttering.

Unhealthy Air

This is what our air is supposed to be like all week. It's one of the downfalls of having snow on the ground and clear skies. Normally we can see all the way to downtown from our front window, but today it looks like brown gunk. You are supposed to stay inside if you have any lung conditions. Unfortunatley all the boys in our family are coughing non-stop. Taylor was out sick all week last week and now Parley is actually taking a sick day. He NEVER does that. We need a good stiff wind to blow everything out (germs included) but it's not supposed to happen until Sunday. And that's still iffy.

Pet Project

This is our dog Cajun. She's almost 10 and has lived/is living a long and healthy life. The only thing she seems to struggle with is ear infections. She had one last month but I was secretly hoping it would go away. I went down to feed her one morning and her right ear flap looked like an apple turnover. It was big and squishy. After taking her to the vet, they said her ear had a hematoma. It was from shaking her head so much with the ear infection. They had to put a drain in it and one of these "Queen Ann" collars. With this big thing on she couldn't fit through her doggy door anymore so has been sleeping and living in the house 24/7. This is her second drain, she got the first one out somehow and this is also her second collar. She is not dainty and if she bumps into something she just keeps going and takes chunks of her collar along with it.

Now the second drain is out (thanks to her doing) and the collar is gone but the hematoma is not. The vet took pitty on us and realized we almost needed to take out a second mortgage to pay our vet bill. So every day, a couple of times a day, I get to "massage" or squeeze her ear to get the fluid out that continutes to build up in her ear. These hematoma's usually only last a week or two. We are now on week 4!

Everybody's Doing It

I have been looking for some ways to change my blog background. I couldn't find anything I liked until Gwen changed her's. It is my "serenity now" background (was that phrase from some Anger Management movie with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson?). It also help me think warm thoughts. It's supposed to get up to a "high" 40 degrees here. Just in time to melt some of the snow before the next storm hits on Wednesday.

p.s. I wish I could figure our how to change it to look more like this (I don't know these people, it's a friend of a friend of a friend).

Quarrantined

We have more snow than we know what to do with. It just keeps coming. There is supposed to be more today and then a break for 5 whole days. Josh caught a cold and was quarrantined inside the house. Lauren and Taylor went out front to build a sledding hill in our yard. Josh had to stay inside and watch. This is how he entertained himself. Playing Taylor's Game Boy in a bucket while watching the kids out the front window.

Free Brag Book

I have a friend who is one of the designers of this cute scrapbooking stuff. They are offering a free digital "Brag Book," you do have to pay shipping. It looks cool. I'm all about free stuff. It's my goal to do all my scrapbooking digitally. Poor Josh doesn't have anything and he's almost 4. Lauren's got the first 5 years of her life to look at and Taylor has the first 2 or 3. We'll see if I can get myself motivated.

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Today the first graders had a parade for Chinese New Year. It was controlled mayhem :) The three classes made a dragon head out of paper mache and then the body with hula hoops. I missed Taylor the first time around. I didn't know he was inside the dragon. I caught him the second time. It looks like they had fun.
