A Taste of Summer

This last weekend the kids had their spring/easter break. Lauren got to go with one of her best friends (Josie) to their cabin in Bear Lake (Utah/Idaho border). It was her first big experience being away from home and she had a great time. She got back in time to go with us to the Zoo on Monday. It was "almost" warm. If you stood in the sun and the wind stopped blowing for a second you could almost imagine it was summer. The kids had a great time running around after being cooped-up for most of the winter. We are soooo looking forward to summer.

More Easter

Since my kids don't actually "like" hard-boiled eggs, there wasn't a big rush to get them done for the Easter bunny to hide. I thought it would be a good Easter Day activity. I sure hope blue egg dye will come out of a white shirt (Josh got a little excited). For dinner we went to Carrie's house and had a very yummy dinner and an easter egg hunt in her back yard. The kids all have more candy than they know what to do with. Josh had pretty much scarffed-down most of it before we even got home. I REALLY don't believe it when people (experts?) say that sugar does not affect a kid. They haven't been in a car with my 4-year-old after he's eaten his Easter candy by the fistfull :)

Happy Easter!

We all had a fun easter. Lauren got "Enchanted" (just like almost every other little girl:), Taylor got a new NBA video game and Josh got a puzzle book. We had a nice dinner at Carrie's house. We even got to spend the day with Parley. No church meetings for him. We hope everyone else had a great Easter with family!
p.s. the picture at the top of my blog is from Easter two years ago. Josh has really come a long way :)

Skiing Anyone

It is our spring break right now, the kids don't go back to school until Tuesday. Lauren and Taylor have been begging all winter for us to take them skiing. Since Lauren got to go with a friend to a cabin for the long weekend, Parley decided to take Taylor skiing. Alta is about 10 minutes away so Parley took off early from work on Friday and they went up for a couple of hours. The Sunnyside lift is free every day from 3 -4:30 p.m. Taylor said it was hard but fun. He's quite the sports fanatic. He's signed up for Baseball and Soccer but also wants to try hocky. We'll try that later, two is my max!

Countdown to Sunriver

As many of you have probably noticed, I added a ticker at the top of the blog. It is a countdown to our family reunion in Oregon this summer. It is my mom's side of the family and this year we should have 33+ people. It's my grandma, her 4 kids (my mom) and then 12 grandkids, spouses and great-grandkids. It is a blast and we all really look forward to it. Since it's kind of a big production we only do it every-other-year and this is the year, yea! No one in our family actually lives in Oregon, but we all LOVE Sunriver (central Oregon) and it is "kind of" central for all of us. We have some (us) coming from Utah, lots from California, some from Washington State and even some flying in from Ohio. As you can see from the pictures, we get to do lots of fun stuff. Swimming, biking, horseback riding, eating and just hanging out with the fam. Hurry up and get here, July!!

Josh's 4th Birthday Celebrations

4 My Old

Today Josh is 4!! I can't believe it. I tell him he's my baby and he says, "No I'm not, I'm big now!!" I also had to spend the first hour of the day convincing him it is his birthday. I think he's enjoyed the anticipation leading up to the big day. For all those that know him, you also know that he HATES to be the center of attention. I don't think he will enjoy having his little friends sing to him for his birthday party at McDonalds today. More pictues of all the fun to follow...

She's 9 Today!!

Happy Birthday Lauren!! Today she is nine!! I can't believe it's been nine years since she joined our family. We've loved every minute of it. She is such a happy child and fun to be around. We love you Lauren and hope you have a great birthday. She was excited to go to school on her birthday, then we'll go to Target to get her cake and then to Sweet Tomatoes for her birthday dinner. More festivity pictures to follow :)
