Half Crazy

I hate to look like I'm bragging but I ran my first half marathon in October 2011. It was fun and hard and awesome. I ran with my two friends that I trained all summer with, Angela and Jamie. I don't think I will ever do a marathon, but for the girl who use to hate to run, I feel good about doing a half. I'm already signed up for next year!

I Guess We're Dog People

Cajun (our yellow lab) died in May. The kids have been asking all summer for a new puppy. I (kendra) was the one holding back. I remember all too well what a puppy entails and how much work it takes. I was the bad guy. As much as I love labs, I wasn't ready for another big and shedding dog. Parley likes the Boston Terriers so we found someone who had new puppies and we went for a visit. Of course, we all fell in love and HAD to have one. They aren't ready until October but we will be puppy owners again!

1st Day of School 2011

Lauren is off to the big, bad scary world of Jr. High. She's excited and nervous at the same time. Taylor is off to 5th grade with Mrs. Conner and Josh is in 2nd grade with Mrs. Gold. Should be a good year!

Holes in your Head

Lauren has been debating getting her ears pierced for quite a while. She finally got up enough courage when her cousing Paige was in town and decided to do it with her. She was afraid of how bad it would hurt, and it did, but not as bad as she thought. Now they both have a couple of extra holes in their heads :)

4th of July 2011

We did our "usual" for the 4th of July. Taylor and I got up really early to run the Sandy City 5k. He, of course, dusted me again and came in first in his age category. I came in 4th, not too bad. We hung out in the afternoon then went to the Sandy City parade at 6pm, then over to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Then waiting, sometimes in the rain, for the fireworks to start. They do not disappoint!

Hiking to Timp Cave

In all the years I've lived in Utah (30+) I had only hiked up to Timpanogos cave once! It was time to take the kids and cousins and grandpa and Gwen. It was a hard, steep hike, but they all did a great job! So much fun, we'll have to do it again!

Pioneer Trek June 2011

Parley and I got the opportunity to go with the youth in our area on a 3-day pioneer trek. The kids and adults obviously dressed up like the pioneers and made the 3-day trek. It was amazing, tiring, dirty and fun!

Starvation June 2011

We have some awesome friends with an awesome boat. They invited us to the northeast corner of the state to Starvation Lake to go waterskiing and camping. We had a blast. The water was cold but Lauren and Parley got in to brave the activities. The boys just did a little swimming. Thanks Johnsons!

Taylor's 10th Birthday

Taylor is now in double digits!! We went to Trafalga (no pictures) and then to Golden Corral for dinner. We usally do Sweet Tomatoes (soup and salad bar) but he was willing to try something different. Golden Corral wasn't his favorite but he was a good sport. His birthday is always exciting because it means summer is just around the corner!

Grammy's Memorial :(

Grammy passed away on Feb 11, 2011. She went quickly which is what she would have wanted. We are soooo grateful for her and all the time we had to spend with her at Sunriver so she could know all 17 of her great-grandkids. She is deeply missed but so grateful for another "reunion" with her someday.

On his actual birthday we went to Burger King for dinner with Jake and Chaz, then came home to do cake and presents. He had a friend party on St. Patricks day, that is why they are all dressed the same.
