Christmas Morning

We told the kids they needed to sleep until at least 7 a.m. Luckily they slept until 7:30. It was great. Then the frenzy began. The first picture is before the unwrapping began. We did stockings first. You can see behind Taylor in the white box what Santa brought the family :) I will have more "action" shots of that later. Josh got his Hot Wheels Dragon race track. Taylor got a shake and go race track and Lauren got a Betta Fish tank and we went to pick-out the fish at the pet store the next day. All-in-all I think we all had a great day!

Christmas Eve

Every Christmas Eve we go to Parley's house in Bountiful. We always have a great time eating more than we should. The kids have been wired for weeks but they were especially in good form this day. They spent a good part of the day tracking santa on the internet and had whipped themselves up into a pretty good frenzy by the time it was bedtime. The kids all got new jammies and were good-to-go. Parley's sister, Kim, and her family were also there. As you can see her kids are a little older (19, 17 and 11) but I think they were still feeling the excitement :)

As Seen on TV

One of my good friends growing up was Heather Kelly. I hung out at her house quite a bit and with 10 kids it was always a good time. Anyway, her sister Liz has a blog that I like checking. I was floored when I saw what her dad did for her mom on Christmas. You'll have to check it out. I thought this kind of stuff only happend on t.v. Good job Brian and have fun Petrea!!

Gingerbread Houses

Costco has great gingerbread house kits at Christmas. This year I decided to be brave and buy them. They had sooo much candy in them and the kids loved it!!

Stay tuned for Christmas pictures :)

Igloo

Yesterday it snowed 12 inches. It was crazy! It was also nice and cold so it wasn't slushy at all. Parley and the kids went out in the front yard and built an igloo. The kids had a great time. They went back out today to play in it. Parley teased the kids that they were going to have to sleep in it. The boy scouts in our area have a winter camp-out each year where they go up the canyon, build igloos and sleep in them. I'd rather get all my teeth pulled than do something like that :)

The Elf on the Shelf

I read about this book called, "The Elf On the Shelf" on the Design Mom blog. It reminded me of a story Parley told me last year. There is a family we know that has one of Santa's elfs that lives in their house every year during December. When the kids wake-up each day the elf is in a different part of the house. He reports back to Santa each day how the kids are doing. When the kids start acting up, the mom says, "remember, the elf is watching." One day, their 4-year-old boy who sometimes gives his mom a run for her money, was being a little on the naughty side. His mom said, "remember, the elf is watching." To which the 4-year-old replied, "I don't care about no stinkin' elf anymore!"

I didn't realized that there is actually a book and an elf that you can buy. I might have to save my pennies for next year :)

Who Knew??

Today was Josh's preschool Christmas program. They have been practicing a lot at school and he would even sing some of the songs at home. Today was the big day and he didn't want to go. I never in a million years thought he would stand up there in front of all the parents and sing away. But he did!! It was darn cute. My camera doesn't do it justice. :)

Downtown Christmas Lights

Yesterday we rode Trax (lightrail) downtown to see the lights. Temple Square always does such a beautiful job. It was cold but fun. Notice in the last two pictues Josh is hiding. He wasn't "up" for pictures but had a great time running around. It's always such a fun adventure to do every Christmas season :)

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Last night Santa came to visit at our church Christmas party. The kids were all so excited to see him, even Josh. He climbed right up and told him what he wanted (race cars). I was so glad Santa came. It was only a 5 minute line instead of the 1hour + line at the mall :)
p.s. That's Lauren's friend, Mary, on Santa's lap with her. She didn't want to do it by herself.

Christmas Cookies

Last Monday night we drove down to Thanksgiving Point to see their Christmas lights. It was really pretty. They do a good job with about a mile's worth of lights to drive through their property and see. It was snowing lightly but was nice and toasty warm inside the car with my favorite "Josh Groban Chrismas" playing. We invited my mom and dad to meet us there and hop in our car with us since we had room. Dad couldn't make it but Mom came and then invited us back to their house to frost sugar cookies and have hot chocolate. It was a fun "christmasy" night :)

Jib Jab Fun

It was really snowy here today, AGAIN! This is what we did to entertain ourselves :)

Non-Crappy Starring You! eCards on JibJab

p.s. You have to click on "play" twice, and at the end it's supposed to say "Love, The Davis'" but I couldn't get it to work :)

Christmas Lights

Every year we take a drive to a neighboring town to see these awesome Christmas lights. These pictures don't do it justice. We went on Monday night and then they actually did a little thing on the news last night about him. He doesn't charge any money to see them and he's a fire fighter by day. He said since they blink and aren't on constantly, his power bill is pretty normal. He just does it for fun. I don't remember how many thousands of lights he has but they are all synchronized to music. The kids love it. He even has a radio station you can tune your car to and listen and watch from your car. Notice the bubbles, too. :)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

It snowed a little bit last week but then rained yesterday and it pretty much all melted. Taylor has been keeping an eagle eye on the weather forcasts and was disappointed that we were only supposed to get about an inch of snow last night. This is what we woke-up to and right now it's STILL snowing. We have at least 7 inches! We went sledding, well Taylor and Lauren and her friend Josie did. Josh and I watched from the car. Then we came home and shoveled the driveway, but it was pretty useless. Now it seems like Christmas.
