Race for the Cure 2009

Chelle, Me, Melissa and Emily

Arika, Me, Chelle, Jodi, Emily, Diane and Ann

On Saturday a bunch of us went down and did the Race for the Cure 5k (3.1 miles). It was so fun and inspiring. They said there were over 19,000 people there and I believe it. Luckily Emily, Erica and I pushed our way to the front of the starting line so we didn't have to run with the herd. It's an easy route, with no hills so it was my kind of race. I had to keep up with Emily and Arika who are 10 years younger than me (literally). Unfortunatley they dusted me the last half-mile but I only finished 40 seconds behind them. I finished in just over 27 minutes. I shaved 2 minutes off my time from last year. Not too bad for an old lady :)

I ran for my cute friend Melissa. She moved into our neighborhood and not soon after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 24! She totally beat it and is now so healthy and happy. It's so amazing to be down there and see all the suriviors in their pink shirts!

Wow!! Great job, Kendra. And you are definately the youngest looking "old lady" I have ever seen.

I think it's neat that you do that every year.

Has it been a year already? You are inspiring, I probably said that last year and I still haven't done anything about it.
