We'll Miss You

I've been feeling like I needed to say something about President Hinkley's passing, but wasn't quite sure what. My mom forwarded this poem to me and I think it's great. I love his sense of humor and will miss his wave, especially with his cane :) I know he's having a great time up in heaven with his wife. It's hard to be sad because you know his missed her so much and he seved so long and so well.
I imagine he's running to Marjorie now,
Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother
While they keep repeating his name.
I see him now meeting his forebears,
Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service
That only such noble men share.
I see him embraced by the Savior
While Father says, "Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance,
I welcomeMy noble, most excellent son."
I then hear the ripples of laughter
As he says the reception's just fine,
But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two
Since there's no need to waste any time.
I can hear his clear voice in the stillness
At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,
Have faith and move forward; there's work to be done.
President Hinckley would want it that way.

Before and After

Josh HATES to get his haircut. Therefore, he usually looks like a rag-a-muffin. I've taken him into a place just for kids with video games and cool cars to sit in while you get a haircut. He wanted nothing to do with it. So.... I buzzed him. It's still not a great haircut, but maybe we can start from scratch and keep it looking better. We'll see :)

Giddy with Excitement

This is a picture of Taylor checking the weather on the computer. This is a daily occurrence and sometimes even an hourly occurrence. Tomorrow is supposed to be a BIG storm. He's been checking satellite images and radar all day. It's very windy and warm today. That's a sure sign of something yucky this way coming.

Men and Their Colds

I saw this video clip on another friend's blog. It was sooo funny. Parley and I were just talking about this yesterday (not because he's like this). "Some" men seem to get totally sidelined by a cold which is quite ironic since they probably get the cold from playing football in -4 degree weather with short sleeves on (Green Bay Packers) and they are as tough as nails then!

For Our California Cousins

We hope the weather is nice and warm and sunny in Southern California. It's pretty cold and snowy here today. We have 12 inches and it's still snowing!! Parley and Taylor went out to snowblow and shovel this morning. Parley loved the small avalanche that happened on our driveway. It's supposed to finally let-up in a couple of hours. Please, oh please!

What to do??

The kids had Friday off and will have tomorrow (Monday) off. What do you do to entertain three kids in the middle of winter when it's FREEZING outside? It's too miserable to go sledding. Friday we went to the aquarium and tomrrow I think we'll go swimming at the indoor pool. I think it's funny that we spend time doing "warm" things. I wish we were seeing the fish in a warm ocean and I wish it was warm enough to go swimming outside. Parley keeps reminding me, it will come. January's almost over, give or take 10 days!

This Never Happens

Josh had a fever Friday night. I thought it would turn into something worse, but it never did. Just a fever for about 8 hours. I never knew how high it was because he wouldn't let me near him with the thermometer, even the under-arm one. He never felt too hot, though. So Saturday Lauren was at a friends and Taylor and Parley were at Taylor's b-ball game. I put on a movie for Josh and look what happened. By the time I realized it I ran back to my room to finish the last 30 pages of my book, but he woke-up 10 pages later. Oh well. He's fine and dandy now.

p.s. Parley's mom made him this blanket for Christmas. It's his "doggie" blanket and he loves it. He says it's snuggly :)

Caught A Bug

It's not what you think, Taylor's not sick, he caught the READING bug. His first grade teacher is wonderful and sends them home with a different book every night to read. She's been sending books that are "too easy" he says so when we went to the library last week he decided he wanted to try a "Captain Underpants" book like Lauren had been reading. She tried to tell him she was in third grade and he was only in first and that it was a long chapter book. He wanted to try it, and to his credit, he read the WHOLE thing in one day. We went to Wal-Mart and he read the whole time (while sitting in the cart) and the whole way there and back. He kept reading when we got home until he finished it. He loved it and wants more!! He used to read every night begrudgingly, but now he really truly enjoys it :)
p.s. He's supposed to read outloud to someone, so this night he was reading to his bears :)

Cousins

I just love this picture! The one on the left is Ian, Carries first boy, then Taylor, my first boy and Seth, Gwen's first boy. We all three had girls first and then boys second. It's fun to have cousins!

Happy 2008

We all stayed up until midnight this year. We were invited over to our friends, the Landgren's, to play games. The adults all fought to stay awake until midnight, but the kids had a great time playing "Incredibles." The kids were so excited to be able to stay awake to see the new year. They thought it was pretty amazing that they were awake for "two days." Happy 2008. We hope everyone has a great year.
